Sleeping directly at Potsdamer Platz usually means not sleeping well. The junction is exactly that: a junction. Traffic, tourism, high-rises, noise. The fjord hotel berlin is different. Bissingzeile in the Tiergarten is a quiet side street, under ten minutes' walk from Potsdamer Platz, with an evening atmosphere that's distinctly different.

The Kulturforum, Neue Nationalgalerie, Gleisdreieckpark, Berliner Philharmonie, Wintergarten Varieté and the Tiergarten: all within walking distance from the fjord. U-Bahn Gleisdreieck (U1, U2, U3) and S-Bahn Potsdamer Platz are also walkable. If you'd rather explore by bike, you can hire one directly at reception. And when you come back in the evening, you come back to a quiet street.

What draws people to this part of Berlin?

From the fjord you can walk to the Neue Nationalgalerie in a few minutes, Mies van der Rohe's glass palace at the Kulturforum. The Berliner Philharmonie is next door, Gleisdreieckpark in the other direction, one of the greenest stretches of inner-city land between elevated railway tracks and old rails. The Topography of Terror, Gropius Bau and the Mall of Berlin follow on, all without taking the U-Bahn.

An honest note on the current situation: there is a larger construction site nearby at the Umspannwerk. During the day it's visible and audible. At night and inside the hotel it's noticeably quieter than right at the junction for most guests. Our team is happy to advise on room choice.

The fjord has five room categories, all in Nordic style. SCHØNES S (17 m²) and M (22 m²) are the base: quiet, clear, with everything you need. SCHØNES L offers 25 m² and space for up to four people. Two categories stand out: SCHØNES BÅD MIT BLICK has a freestanding bathtub and a private terrace, SCHØNER BLICK comes with a 30 m² rooftop terrace and daybed above the rooftops. In the morning there's breakfast downstairs in the breakfast room or on the terrace in summer; in the evening the rooftop terrace is yours.

The rooms don't have air conditioning. On the quiet Bissingzeile, an open window in summer often works better than chilled air. Every room has a fan.
