New Year's Eve in Berlin 2026 – Yeah 26 at the Brandenburg Gate

📍 Straße des 17. Juni / Brandenburg Gate, Berlin

New Year's Eve in Berlin 2026 with Yeah 26 at the Brandenburg Gate, New Year concerts on 1 January and boutique hotels in Mitte, Kreuzberg or City West. Book direct with us.

New Year’s Eve in Berlin and a Stress-Free Way Home

New Year’s Eve in Berlin is loud, big and full of programmes. The question is rarely whether there is something to celebrate, but where you end up and where you sleep afterwards. Portal lists of “hotels in the centre” sound tempting but are often neither honest nor helpful when you really want to wind down after midnight.

At little BIG hotels you therefore think first about your programme, not a house: open air at the Brandenburg Gate, indoor in Prenzlauer Berg, Spree in Kreuzberg, variety in the city or celebration at Wannsee in the south-west. Then you pick the neighbourhood that fits your New Year’s Eve night.

When you stand between Straße des 17. Juni and the illuminated gate at midnight, Berlin is big and loud and exactly right. Afterwards you do not want half an hour across the city, but a house that gets quieter when the door closes.

Below are some top events for the night of nights, each with a matching house from the little BIG family.

Yeah 26 at the Brandenburg Gate

Under the motto Yeah 26, Berlin celebrates the turn of 2025/2026 at the Brandenburg Gate again. Planned are a DJ party from 22:00, snacks and drinks at food stalls and fireworks around midnight. Entry is free, but you need a complimentary ticket from Kulturprojekte Berlin once presale starts.

Doors open from 21:30; organisers recommend arriving before 23:00 because there can be queues. Access is via Ebertstraße (south and north) and the corner of Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße/Scheidemannstraße. Programme updates are on visitBerlin.

For Yeah 26, our CALMA Berlin Mitte is the obvious base: you stay on Linienstraße, reach the government quarter and gate area by short walks or U-Bahn, and return in the evening to a house with a quiet courtyard if you want to leave the bustle outside. More on the neighbourhood in our CALMA article.

What to Know On Site

New Year’s Eve in Berlin has its own rules. S- and U-Bahn station Brandenburger Tor is usually closed from around 16:00 on New Year’s Eve for safety and reopens only when crowds have cleared, often around 4 a.m. Plan arrival and return accordingly, not via this hub.

Dress warmly, allow patience at the gate, secure your ticket in advance, keep your phone charged, and stay realistic: you are in the crowd, not in a box. Anyone who wants that gets the big Berlin moment with Yeah 26 without an entry fee. Anyone who prefers indoors will find alternatives below.

Celebrating Indoors at Kulturbrauerei

Anyone who prefers to celebrate indoors heads to Kulturbrauerei in Prenzlauer Berg. On the former brewery grounds with brick buildings and courtyards, thousands celebrate New Year’s Eve at the city’s largest indoor party: with one ticket you move between around a dozen floors, 30 DJs and live acts. Kesselhaus has live music, Maschinenhaus electronic sounds, Soda R’n’B and dance classics, Palais 90s party feeling and Alte Kantine party music into the night. The countdown traditionally happens on the courtyard stage, accompanied by fireworks over the roofs.

From our CALMA Berlin Mitte you reach Prenzlauer Berg quickly by tram or U-Bahn: stay central, celebrate on the grounds in the evening and return at night to a fixed address on Linienstraße.

Kreuzberg by the Spree

In Kreuzberg, Spindler & Klatt on Köpenicker Straße becomes the New Year’s party Discothèque again, with two dance floors and a terrace directly on the Spree. Anyone who wants fireworks over the water but still stay in Berlin-Mitte is in the right place.

Our the YARD Berlin is a few minutes away on quiet Alexandrinenstraße. Kreuzberg by day, party on the Spree in the evening, then unwind at the house – with pool and sauna if you want to recharge the next day. More on the contrast between neighbourhood and retreat in our YARD article.

FLYING LIGHTS at Wintergarten Varieté

Not every New Year’s night has to be a club night. On New Year’s Eve, Wintergarten Varieté on Potsdamer Straße becomes a glamorous variety night: FLYING LIGHTS with the Flying Steps, international top artists and a show around light, movement and LED technology. Optional show & dine from snack to three-course menu, with champagne and festive mood.

Anyone who still wants to dance into the new year switches to Bohème Sauvage № 138 New Year’s Ball: doors from 22:30, 1920s dress code, swing orchestra, Charleston and a countdown in the golden variety hall. Combo tickets for show and ball are via the Wintergarten hotline. More on the house and its twenties tone in our Wintergarten blog.

Afterwards our fjord hotel berlin is the right retreat: on Bissingzeile in Tiergarten, less than ten minutes on foot from Potsdamer Platz, on a quiet side street, not on the square itself. You were in the city but do not sleep in the middle of the noise. More on the location in our fjord article.

At Potsdamer Platz itself, the winter world with market and toboggan run often runs around New Year’s Eve. Anyone who wants to experience the square but needs a calmer address is right at the fjord.

Wannsee Instead of Big-City Party

Not everyone wants to stand in the crowd at the Brandenburg Gate at midnight. Anyone who still wants to celebrate but without typical big-city party vibes is well served at Loretta am Wannsee: New Year’s Eve in the pergola by the lake with buffet, drinks package from 20:00 to 24:00, DJ and sparkling wine at midnight. It does not get quiet there either, but lake views, beer-garden atmosphere and a different pace than at the gate or on the Spree.

Our Anna 1908 in Steglitz is made for that: period charm, calmer tempo, S-Bahn back to Mitte if you still want an outing. In Advent we already recommended the Christmas Garden at the Botanical Garden as a combo from there. New Year’s Eve can work the same way: celebrate at Wannsee, sleep in the south-west.

Classical Instead of Noise

Anyone who prefers music to fireworks at the turn of the year finds a real contrast in the famous New Year concerts, which actually begin on New Year’s Eve. You sit in the grand hall, sleep in afterwards and start 1 January with a second highlight. That bridges a loud New Year’s night and a calmer new year.

On 31 December, Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt invites you at 19:00 to the concert for the turn of the year: Konzerthausorchester, Anja Bihlmaier and pianist Bruce Liu, ending with Johann Strauss’s Emperor Waltz. From our CALMA Berlin Mitte you reach Gendarmenmarkt on foot or by U-Bahn and return to Linienstraße in the evening without pushing through crowds at the gate.

At the Philharmonie at Kulturforum, the Berlin Philharmonic play their festive programme at 17:30 on New Year’s Eve with Kirill Petrenko and Alexander Malofeev, with overtures by Nicolai and Strauss plus Shostakovich and Prokofiev. Our fjord hotel berlin is on Bissingzeile in Tiergarten, less than ten minutes on foot from Potsdamer Platz, on a quiet side street, not on the square itself. From the fjord you reach Kulturforum and the Philharmonie comfortably on foot or by bus and train.

Film score fans are well served with Christian Thielemann and the Staatskapelle Berlin: From Babelsberg to Hollywood with works by Gottfried Huppertz, Erich Wolfgang Korngold and others runs on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Our CALMA Berlin Mitte is the obvious base; Unter den Linden and Gendarmenmarkt are in your neighbourhood.

On 1 January the series continues. The New Year concert at Konzerthaus starts at 16:00 with Joana Mallwitz, Pekka Kuusisto and the Konzerthausorchester, with Wagner, Grieg, Mendelssohn and Smetana. At the Philharmonie, Beethoven’s 9th with the Sinfonie Orchester Berlin awaits in the afternoon and baroque Venetian sounds with RIAS Kammerchor and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin in the evening. Tickets for Philharmonie concerts are in the Berlin Philharmonic calendar.

On 2 January there is another classical New Year concert at the Philharmonie with the Leipzig Philharmonic: Dvořák’s New World plus waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss and Franz Lehár. Anyone who prefers to sleep in after a loud New Year’s night and only heads into the city in the afternoon is well placed at Anna 1908 in the south-west: sleep quietly, S-Bahn to Mitte or Tiergarten, concert, back to the period house.

LINDEMANN’S and Potsdamer Straße

Our LINDEMANN’S on Potsdamer Straße is Schöneberg City West with short distances to Wintergarten, Nollendorfplatz and Ku’damm. Outdoors, New Year’s Eve is celebrated loudly; fireworks and city noise are part of it. In the house you still have a real option: Quiet & Small and Quiet & Big face the quiet courtyard and are made for deep sleep when the door closes. Berlin with escalation outside, wind-down inside. More on the neighbourhood in our LINDEMANN’S article.
