Our Hotel Alt-Connewitz is at Meusdorfer Straße 47A, in the middle of this life and only a short walk from woods and meadows. We are an established house in the little BIG hotels family, not the polished design hotel from the magazine. Alt-Connewitz is the programme here, not decoration.
Between Auwald and KarLi
When you leave our Hotel Alt-Connewitz along Meusdorfer Straße north towards Connewitzer Kreuz, you are in the neighbourhood rhythm within a few minutes: late-night shops, concert venues, graffiti on the walls and in the evening the pulse of the KarLi, while behind the house the Auwald already turns greener. This is not an inner-city hotel with neighbourhood décor, but Connewitz for real, raw, lively and for many the reason to stay in Leipzig’s south at all.
At Connewitzer Kreuz, Werk 2 waits with concerts, readings and culture in the neighbourhood. Conne Island has been a centre for subculture, live music and skatepark for decades. The agra cultural site with open-air events lies in Leipzig’s south. From our hotel you reach all of that without commuting through the city first. Augustusplatz and the Gewandhaus are about twenty minutes away by tram. Five minutes to the tram
Good connections are a given in Connewitz and still decisive. It is about five minutes on foot from the hotel to Hildebrandstraße stop. From there lines 11, 11E and 9 take you to the city centre in around twenty minutes. If you are heading to agra or WGT, take the 11 or 11E in the other direction and you are there in about ten minutes.
You reach S-Bahn station Connewitz in about fifteen minutes on foot; from there Leipzig/Halle airport is around forty minutes away. At Koburger Brücke, about eight minutes on foot, bus line 70 stops towards Panometer and Alte Messe; in summer line 79 runs from there to Cospudener See.
If you arrive by car, you find twenty spaces directly at the hotel for eight euros per night, locked at night, plus two EV charging points in the car park. If you bring your own bike, use our free locked bike garage; hire bikes are available at reception for ten euros per day.
Rooms from compact to family apartment
Rooms here are not showpieces, but a clear scale for different trips. CONNE S ONE and CONNE S are compact for solo travellers and couples, CONNE M brings a bit more space with an extra armchair, CONNE L and KLEINES ZUHAUSE suit families with separate areas to unwind.
If you stay longer or want to cook yourself, book ZWEITES ZUHAUSE with its own kitchen at about fifty-eight square metres for up to six people. All categories are well kept and spacious for what they are, with Wi‑Fi, safe and fan, without us promising a design upgrade the house has not had yet.
And there is a sauna anyway
At a neighbourhood hotel like ours most guests expect late-night shop and concert evening rather than wellness, and still we have a Finnish sauna with temperatures between thirty-five and one hundred ten degrees. Use is free for hotel guests while reception is staffed, so daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
No fancy spa, no infinity pool, just this extra treat after a day on the KarLi, at the trade fair or in the city centre: warmth, calm in the house, no extra ticket. Many regular guests name exactly that as the surprise they had not expected here.
An honest word
We only brought Hotel Alt-Connewitz into the little BIG hotels family about a year ago. A major room update is still ahead, and we do not beat around the bush: if a freshly renovated boutique interior is your main criterion, we are not the right fit yet. What guests have told us for years and what keeps appearing in reviews is something else: warm service, clean and spacious rooms, fair value for money and this Connewitz feeling right outside the door.
Many come back because they already know the house, not because it looks glossy. If you want an honest hotel in Leipzig-Connewitz, you are in the right place.
Everyday life at our hotel
A neighbourhood hotel has to work simply day to day. Reception is staffed daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., you can check in online and find a team that really knows Connewitz. Breakfast is organic and regional with many homemade specialities, weekdays from 6:30 a.m., weekends from 7:00 a.m.; more in Our Hotel Breakfast.
As in all little BIG hotels there is no coffee machine in the room; instead our coffee flat rate in the house from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hotel Alt-Connewitz is non-smoking, pets are welcome for ten euros per night, and luggage can stay at reception before and after your stay.
