What is the POLAR EXPERIENCE?
“POLAR EXPERIENCE Berlin – The Immersive Exhibition about the Arctic and Antarctic” celebrates its world premiere. From December 6, 2025 to April 6, 2026, the Arena Berlin in Treptow will be transformed into an expedition ship through the cold regions of our planet – with large-format projections, soundscapes and interactive stations. Entertainment meets science, allowing visitors of all ages to experience polar landscapes, wildlife and research up close.
When and where?
The venue is the Arena Berlin, Eichenstraße 4, 12435 Berlin – an industrial monument directly on the Spree. The duration: 2025-12-06–2026-04-06. Opening hours according to the organizer: Tue/Wed/Sun & public holidays 10 AM–6 PM, Thu/Fri/Sat 10 AM–8 PM; last admission one hour before closing. The exhibition is closed on Mondays.
What content can I expect?
The journey begins with a virtual boarding on the research vessel “Polarstern” – prepared by Prof. Dr. Markus Rex, polar researcher and expedition leader. From there, the tour leads to topics such as sea ice, storms, wildlife and research stations (including Neumayer Station) – staged with state-of-the-art projection technology, audio and illusions. Children are playfully accompanied by the mascot “Cosmo” (Galileo Kids); those eager for knowledge can delve deeper into data and connections at hands-on exhibits.
Who is the exhibition suitable for?
For families & school classes looking for a clear, interactive introduction to the polar regions. For science and technology fans who want to understand everyday research and climate connections. And for everyone who likes immersive formats – here “knowledge” becomes an experience with goosebump moments.
Tickets, Times & Prices
Time slot tickets are available, among others, via Eventim from approx. €21 (select date/slot). The official ticket page lists the opening hours mentioned above as well as information on admission and accessibility. Animals are not allowed (exception: registered assistance/guide dogs). Plan your visit with a time slot and be there in good time – access closes one hour before the end.
Arrival & Location
The Arena Berlin is located on the banks of the Spree in Treptow – well connected by S-Bahn (Treptower Park), bus and bicycle. Due to the size of the hall and the subtle lighting conditions, it is recommended to arrive early to take the introduction without any hustle and bustle; if you are coming with children, set up fixed meeting points inside the hall.
Stay overnight at the YARD
Our boutique hotel the YARD is in a really convenient location for the POLAR EXPERIENCE: From the Prinzenstraße underground station (U1/U3) it is only three stops to Schlesisches Tor – and from there an exciting walk leads down Schlesische Straße over the Spree to the Arena Berlin (approx. 15 minutes, with cafés and street art along the way). Plus point: At The YARD you sleep peacefully in the green courtyard, but you are back in the middle of the action in minutes – perfect for families as well as city trip couples.
Why is the POLAR EXPERIENCE special?
It combines state-of-the-art technology with scientific curation and makes research – from the “Polarstern” to the Neumayer Station – emotionally tangible. The didactic arc ranges from amazement to participation to the classification of the polar regions in the climate system. This is precisely what has positioned the exhibition as a “Top Event” in Berlin in advance.
Visiting tips
-
Slots in the morning are quieter; the portals expect more crowds on the weekend.
-
Master admission in a relaxed manner: Plan 10–20 minutes before your slot, have QR tickets ready and bring only small luggage (use cloakroom). This makes the entry phase calmer – especially with kids.
-
Plan time: Calculate 60–90 minutes if you use interactive stations; school classes tend to take longer.
-
Combine: Before or after the exhibition, a walk along the Spree or a detour to the Arena gastronomy is a good idea. (Address see above)
Summary
Immersive, educational and atmospheric: The POLAR EXPERIENCE makes the extremes of the Arctic and Antarctic come alive in the Arena Berlin – perfect for families, classes and curious people who like science with a wow effect. With fixed time slots, clear opening hours and a good public transport location, the visit is easy to plan. Secure tickets, choose a slot, get on board – the expedition can begin.
