Highfield Festival 2026: Summer, lake, and big festival moments near Leipzig

When August in Leipzig sounds like a festival, Lake Störmthal becomes the backdrop for long summer days, and amidst indie, rock, hip-hop, punk, and pop, everything suddenly feels a little lighter – then it’s Highfield time again. From August 13 to 16, 2026, the Highfield Festival attracts music fans from all over Germany to the lake south of Leipzig – with big names, plenty of open-air feeling, camping, beach moments, and precisely that mix of festival energy and summer vacation that makes Highfield so special.

The festival takes place at Lake Störmthal in Großpösna and has long been one of the most important music festivals in Central Germany. If you want to experience Leipzig in summer, you don’t just get a concert weekend here, but a complete festival feeling between stage, lake, campsite, food stalls, and sunset.

A festival weekend with a lake vibe

Highfield is not a city festival, nor is it purely a camping adventure somewhere in the middle of nowhere. The big difference is the location: Lake Störmthal brings that summery lightness that you don’t always get at festivals. Between concerts, the beach, lake views, and the festival grounds, a weekend emerges that sometimes feels loud and wild, sometimes relaxed and almost like a vacation.

During the day, you can roam the grounds, discover music, eat, meet people, or simply take a short breather by the water. In the evening, the stages take over, the lights, the big choruses, and those typical festival moments where everyone suddenly sings along to the same song. That’s what Highfield thrives on: lots of music, but also the feeling of completely escaping everyday life for a few days.

The 2026 Line-up: Kraftklub, SDP, Beatsteaks, Marteria, and many more

The line-up for 2026 is already bringing plenty of excitement to the festival summer. With Kraftklub, SDP, Beatsteaks, 01099, Marteria, BHZ, Giant Rooks, Dropkick Murphys, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, $oho Bani, Dilla, Nura, Montreal, Das Lumpenpack, ZSK, Sondaschule, Levin Liam, Itchy, Querbeat, Deine Cousine, Kafvka and many more acts, Highfield is once again broadly positioned.

This fits the character of the festival well. It’s not just about one genre, but about a soundtrack for a long summer weekend: sometimes guitars, sometimes rap, sometimes punk, sometimes indie, sometimes pop, sometimes a total blast. If you like to switch between stages and don’t want to hear the same sound for three days, Highfield is a pretty good place for you.

Particularly exciting: In 2026, the Electric Beach will receive more attention. Electronic sets will be played directly on the beach – with acts like The Ironix, Miami Lenz, Rutger Live, Josi Miller, Crux Pistols, DJ Sportschuh, and Clara B2B Flavius. This brings another energy to the festival and makes the lake not only a daytime attraction but also its own musical venue.

Four days of Highfield: 2026 can be a little longer

Highfield 2026 runs from Thursday, August 13, to Sunday, August 16. This turns the classic festival weekend into a slightly longer summer getaway. Thursday kicks off with a warm-up atmosphere and initial program highlights before the weekend really gets going.

For festival fans, this is quite welcome. You don’t arrive when everything is already in full swing, but can slowly ease into it: set up your tent or check into accommodation, explore the grounds, catch the first acts, meet friends, see the lake, and then gradually switch into Highfield mode.

Who is the Highfield Festival for?

Highfield is ideal for anyone who loves festivals but doesn’t want a pure genre tunnel. If you like to mix indie rock, pop, rap, punk, guitar music, and electronic moments, you’ll get a pretty varied weekend here. It’s a festival for groups of friends, couples, summer lovers, concert fans, and everyone who wants to get out and about one last time in August.

Also nice: Highfield feels big, but remains approachable. You get well-known acts and festival scale without the location feeling arbitrary. The lake makes a big difference. It gives the area its own atmosphere and ensures that the weekend isn’t just about stage times, but also about breaks, walks, beach moments, and small scenes in between.

Camping, festival pass, and a bit of planning

If you want the full Highfield experience, you’ll probably end up camping. Important to know: The festival pass is for the festival grounds; if you want to stay overnight at the campsite or in the trailer park, you also need a camping pass. Depending on your preference, there are different camping options – from classic festival camping to quieter areas.

Nevertheless, camping isn’t the best solution for everyone. Some want to experience the festival but prefer to sleep in a proper bed at night. Others combine Highfield with a Leipzig weekend and only attend individual festival days or opt for a more relaxed version. For this, good planning is worthwhile: How do you get to the site? When do you leave? Where do you want to stay overnight? And how much festival energy do you really want in the end?

In addition to arriving by car and train, a shuttle service from Leipzig train station is also planned. More information will be available soon on the organizer’s website.

Leipzig as Basecamp: Festival outdoors, city feeling included

If you don’t want to camp directly at the festival grounds, you can perfectly combine Highfield with a stay in Leipzig. The city is close enough to enjoy the festival as a big summer outing, but at the same time offers everything that’s pleasant after a long festival day: restaurants, cafés, bars, quiet rooms, breakfast, and a bit of city comfort.

Our two Leipzig hotels are practical starting points for this. The Hotel am Bayrischen Platz is particularly suitable if you want to stay close to the city and explore Leipzig a bit around the festival. From here, you’re quickly in the city center, can enjoy a relaxed breakfast before the festival, stroll through the city, or wind down the evening a bit more quietly after the concert. By car, you’ll be at the festival grounds in about 30 minutes.

The Hotel Alt-Connewitz is a nice choice if you like the south of Leipzig and want to stay closer to the local Leipzig vibe. Connewitz, Südvorstadt, small bars, cafés, and the southern location make this hotel particularly exciting for those who don’t want to completely separate the festival and Leipzig. You can reach the festival grounds by car in about 20 minutes.

We offer you a 5% accommodation deal for our two hotels with the booking code LBH_HIGH (valid for stays from August 12 – August 17, 2026).

In short: If you love camping, take the full Highfield package with tent and lake. If you prefer to combine the festival with a shower, bed, and breakfast, make Leipzig your basecamp.

Our tip for your Highfield weekend

Don’t plan Highfield just around the headliners. Of course, the big names are important, but often it’s precisely the moments you haven’t marked on your calendar that stick with you: an act in the afternoon that you stumble upon, a sunset by the lake, a quick detour to Electric Beach, a food stall discovery, or that one song that suddenly gets the whole crowd singing along.

Pack comfortable shoes, remember sunscreen, check your travel arrangements in good time, and don’t stress if not every program item goes perfectly. Highfield works best when you set a few highlights and leave enough room for spontaneous festival moments in between.

Our conclusion on Highfield Festival 2026

From August 13 to 16, the Highfield Festival 2026 will once again bring music, summer, lake, and festival vibes to Lake Störmthal near Leipzig. With acts like Kraftklub, SDP, Beatsteaks, Marteria, 01099, BHZ, Giant Rooks, and many more names, the weekend will be musically broad, loud, and very promising.

Whether camping directly by the lake or with Leipzig as a comfortable basecamp: Highfield is a very good reason to celebrate August big one more time. And perhaps just the right occasion for a few days that sound like music, summer air, and long nights.
