Boutique hotel in Kreuzberg with spa – our the YARD Berlin

04 June 2026

Our the YARD in Kreuzberg: quiet courtyard, spa with pool and green garden – in the middle of the city, yet you can switch off in the evening.

Sleep in peace

Kreuzberg is loud, colourful and alive – and that is exactly why many people look for a boutique hotel where they can really wind down after a day in the neighbourhood. Alexandrinenstraße itself is a quiet residential street between old buildings, with no café row or bustle at the front door. Towards Gitschiner Straße you feel traffic more than neighbourhood life. The upside: you stay tucked away inside the block, and within a few minutes you are at the Landwehr Canal, the Jewish Museum or on your way to Prinzenbad. You choose Kreuzberg consciously, instead of it finding you in your room at night.

At the YARD Berlin you are quickly in the middle of Kreuzberg – and in the evening you leave street noise and bustle outside. Behind the door to the complex, a calm atmosphere awaits you – with a quiet courtyard and a house with 55 non-smoking rooms, deliberately smaller and more personal than many city hotels. Kreuzberg stays your programme, and your room should feel genuinely quiet after work. That is what the YARD Berlin stands for at little BIG hotels.

Pool and sauna in Kreuzberg?

In a compact boutique hotel in Kreuzberg you expect neighbourhood life more than an indoor pool – at the YARD, both are part of the house. The area has an indoor pool, Finnish sauna, steam bath and fitness with treadmill and cross trainer.

Our the YARD Berlin is the only house in the little BIG family with a spa. You do not need to cross the city to unwind after a long day. You can use the pool and fitness daily from 07:00 to 22:00, sauna and steam bath from 15:00 to 22:00. Use costs a one-off 10 euros per person per stay including towel and slippers, children aged 7 to 14 pay 5 euros. The wellness area belongs to the building complex and is shared by hotel guests and residents of the house, not an anonymous public day spa for visitors from the street.

A garden to breathe out

Between pool and reception there is something that is not a given in Kreuzberg: green space in your own house. The garden was designed by renowned landscape architect Enzo Enea and is not a decorative back yard but a deliberate place to sit, read or let your shoulders drop before you head out again.

In summer the garden feels like a second living room, in winter it stays a quiet contrast to the street outside. Anyone looking for a boutique hotel in Kreuzberg with spa finds pool, sauna and a green pause under one roof here.

Rooms to unwind in

After a loud day in Kreuzberg you need a room with a calm baseline that is restrained and warm, without overly loud design statements. Real wood flooring and clear colours, air conditioning in all 55 rooms, a laptop-size safe and Wi-Fi included are part of that. Whether compact for one person, cosy for two or with a bit more space for three guests, sizes differ but the tone stays the same.

We rely on materials you want to touch and calm in the details. No overdone design theatre but rooms where you can really switch off after a museum day or a walk through Kreuzberg. For us that is the core of a charming hotel in Berlin, not loudly flashy but noticeably thought through.

Jewish Museum or Prinzenbad?

From the YARD Berlin you reach the Jewish Museum Berlin on Lindenstraße in about ten minutes on foot. ANOHA, the museum’s children’s world in the former wholesale flower market hall, sits right in the ensemble, along with the Blumenthal Academy with its programme and educational offerings. With children, combining the museum and ANOHA in one afternoon is worthwhile without crossing Berlin.

In summer Prinzenbad is nearby. For the classic Kreuzberg walk, cross the Landwehr Canal to Carl-Herz-Ufer, continue to Admiralbrücke and from there an easy stroll to Kottbusser Damm with Ankerklause on the canal – and if you still have energy, down Maybachufer, with market on Tuesdays and Fridays and riverside benches and neighbourhood feeling in the evening. In winter the programme moves mostly into the house, where sauna, steam bath and pool become the right address. Lively outside, relaxed inside, as soon as you step over the threshold again.

Quick to everywhere in Berlin

Good connections are not a luxury in Kreuzberg. Prinzenstraße with U1 and U3 is about 550 metres away, Hallesches Tor with U1, U3 and U6 about 650 metres. Bus 248 is even closer, and M41 and 140 are also easy to reach on foot. From here the U-Bahn takes you to Potsdamer Platz in a few stops, and the East Side Gallery is about fifteen minutes away on foot.

For days with the German Museum of Technology, Gleisdreieck or family stops at Potsdamer Platz we recommend our guide around Potsdamer Platz. the YARD Berlin is already listed there as one of the home bases with map and ideas for culture and evening plans. For a Kreuzberg evening with a view, a short hop to SOLAR on Stresemannstraße is sometimes worth it, about five minutes by taxi or Uber from the house.
