Boutique hotel Berlin Mitte on Linienstraße – quiet courtyard, a short walk to Oranienburger Str., Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel.
Loud Mitte? Not at our house
In the evening, friends meet in wine bars and small restaurants in Mitte, and between Torstraße and Oranienburger Straße the food scene is almost impossible to exhaust. If you are looking for a boutique hotel Berlin Mitte, you usually want exactly that with you and still a place where the day really ends.
Our CALMA Berlin Mitte is on Linienstraße, right in the middle of this life. From your room to the street is only a few steps, and if you want to benefit from the courtyard location, you sleep the bustle away behind terrace and courtyard. That was the idea of the house even before the 2024 renovation: Berlin Mitte feeling outside, CALMA inside.
Torstraße or Oranienburger Straße?
Micro-location makes the difference. Head north towards Torstraße. For us that is the more exciting, more authentic Berlin: bars, small shops and food that is lived in more by Berliners than by pure tourist routes. To the south lies Oranienburger Straße with classic Mitte feeling, the synagogue and the sights of Berlin that many guests already have on their list anyway.
In between sits our CALMA on Linienstraße, and you reach both worlds on foot. If you are hungry, you hardly need to plan in Mitte: something different waits on every corner, from a spontaneous wine bar to a reserved table. The addresses that are really worth it are bundled in our guide to eating in Berlin Mitte.
Right next door, on Oranienburger Straße, is Fotografiska in the former Kunsthaus Tacheles. The building was once the Friedrichstraßenpassage, was occupied by artists in 1990 and became a symbol of free art in the post-reunification years, with graffiti, studios and off-theatre in the half-ruined halls. Since 2023 there is life here again. In the historic walls, a museum for photography awaits you with traces of the Tacheles era and changing exhibitions, plus bar and café often open late into the evening. If you want to experience post-Wall Berlin and contemporary art in one place, you hardly need to cross the street.

Near Hackescher Markt and Museumsinsel
Anyone exploring Berlin Mitte ends up at Hackescher Markt, the Berlin Cathedral or Museumsinsel sooner or later. From our CALMA these are not day trips but walks that feel right after a slow breakfast or a stroll through the lanes. Museumsinsel is about fifteen minutes on foot, the cathedral and Humboldt Forum are in similar range.
Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz are a few minutes away by U-Bahn and S-Bahn, and Hackescher Markt remains one of the first addresses on foot for an evening in Mitte. We deliberately do not list ten pages of sights here. Instead: you stay so that culture, history and lively street life fit together without crossing the whole city every morning.

Getting around Mitte quickly
Good connections are a given in Mitte and still decisive. Oranienburger Tor on the U6 and S-Bahn Oranienburger Straße are a few minutes on foot, Hauptbahnhof connects you quickly, and from BER airport you reach the centre via FEX or S-Bahn without detours.
On foot and by public transport you can get everywhere from our CALMA, and that is how most of our guests plan their days. If you prefer to experience Berlin actively, hire a bike at reception for twelve euros per day. Linienstraße is a bicycle street, and on two wheels you see Mitte differently: more flexibly from café to gallery, faster across the city and with more fresh air than in the U-Bahn.
Pop Art not standard grey
In 2024 we rethought the rooms. Away from anonymous hotel grey, towards clear lines, fresh white and a wink of pink: Pop Art elements you see at once without it feeling loud or kitschy. That is the signature of our CALMA Berlin Mitte after the renovation, modern, tidy and with personality.
Sizes range from compact for solo travellers to rooms where a small family fits comfortably, and many bathrooms are surprisingly generous. If you want it especially quiet, choose a room facing the courtyard; if you still want city feeling through the window in the evening, rather towards the street. Laptop-size safe, Wi‑Fi, desk and minibar are included; unfortunately no air conditioning, but every room has a fan.

Check in digitally and go
You can check in digitally with us and open your room door via smartphone without queuing at reception. After booking you receive a personalised link to the web app, fill in the registration form there and you are ready. The team is on site daily from 7 am to 10 pm if you have questions, need tips or want to store luggage before check-in or after check-out.
Outside reception hours a telephone night service is available. Check-in is from 3 pm, check-out until 11 am, and if you arrive early or leave late you can often arrange that with the team for a small surcharge. That keeps arrival day relaxed even when the train reaches Berlin early or your flight is only in the evening.
Day to day with us
Our CALMA has to work simply in everyday life. Breakfast is served daily from 7 to 11 am with many house-made specialities, fresh fruit, warm dishes and details like microgreens you pick onto your plate yourself. If you add breakfast when booking, you save a few euros per night, and children up to five eat breakfast with us for free.
As in all little BIG hotels there is no coffee machine in the room. Instead our coffee flat rate in the breakfast room: from 1 pm to 9 pm coffee and tea for all guests, with eco-friendly to-go cups if you spend the afternoon outside. More on the concept is in our article Our hotel breakfast, where you can also see what the buffet looks like at our CALMA.

In the courtyard a terrace with seating waits, a quiet spot between two tours through Mitte or for the first coffee in the morning when the city is still half asleep. Unfortunately we have no parking at the house; the team knows car parks nearby and helps with orientation. Pets are not permitted in any little BIG hotel, families with children are welcome, and you can request accessible category M rooms directly when booking.
