OUR HISTORY

1993

Opening of the fjord hotel berlin

It all began in 1993, when Emil Lindemann brought the fjord hotel berlin in Berlin-Tiergarten to life. Our journey began with 57 rooms, a bar on the first floor and a spacious breakfast room on the 7th floor above the rooftops of Berlin. Specializing in larger bus groups and corporate guests, our hotel soon became a permanent institution at Potsdamer Platz and tourists also enjoyed the great location. Quietly located in a side street and yet within walking distance of the most important sights, it was completely convincing for everyone.

2000

Hotel Alte Feuerwache (Old fire station)

In May 2000, Lars, Emil’s son, followed in his father’s footsteps and took over the Hotel Alte Feuerwache in Berlin-Lichtenberg. With its 26 rooms and a restaurant that hosted events and weddings, the hotel quickly became the center of Lars’ life. Interestingly, some of the employees from that team are still with us today. Why? Because the Hotel Alte Feuerwache was only the beginning.

2007

Company formation

The team founded LINDEMANN HOTELS in 2007 with big plans.

2008

The Black Pearl

It should be a new hotel, bigger, more modern, more Berlin! And so it came about that in August 2008 LINDEMANN’S was opened with 65 rooms in Berlin-Schöneberg. The hotel in Potsdamer Strasse was completely renovated and refurnished in a fashionable mix of black and white with lilac accents. The black exterior facade and the coffee shop caused a sensation and LINDEMANN’S quickly established itself.

2009

Establishment of the reservation center

A reservation center was now needed for the Lindemann family’s three existing hotels. Founded by and with colleagues from the Lichtenberger Hotel, the central reservation of LINDEMANN HOTELS was born. The sale of the rooms and the new structures brought fresh impetus and so in June 2009 the time had come to part with the Alte Feuerwache in order to be able to concentrate fully on the fjord hotel berlin, LINDEMANN’S and other projects.

2010

2010-2012 Renovation of the fjord hotel berlin

The fjord hotel berlin became more of a focus for our team. A lot had changed in the hotel industry since 1993 and in 2010 the time had come to bring the hotel back up to date in terms of style.

The breakfast room in the 7th floor gave way to four unique rooms, which have since formed the heart of our hotel with their individual design and private roof terrace. The relocation of the breakfast room to the first floor was initially a change for our regular guests, but from then on breakfast was even nicer and more modern. Nobody even had to miss out on the terrace, as our guests could now enjoy their morning coffee on the sun terrace adjoining the breakfast room. At the same time, further renovations were carried out on the 6th floor, resulting in additional rooms.

The fjord hotel berlin grew and grew and the original 57 rooms became 64. For two years, LINDEMANN’S and the fjord hotel berlin made LINDEMANN HOTELS a company to be taken seriously in the hotel industry, but standing still is nothing for our hotel. As a result, a new property was sought. Meanwhile, the remaining five floors of the fjord hotel berlin were also adapted to the new style, so that it shone in new splendor from 2012.

2012

The CALMA Berlin Mitte

In fact, one day a hotel caught our eye that we immediately fell in love with! The traditional Berlin building with its unusual architecture and fantastic backyard location was already a hotel and therefore offered the best conditions for becoming the new LINDEMANN HOTELS. With a lot of energy, passion and a vision in mind, we redesigned the hotel according to our ideas after the takeover in December 2012 and gave it the name CALMA Berlin Mitte.

2013

Reconstruction of CALMA Berlin Mitte

The renovation took place in spring 2013, during which the original 38 rooms, which did not meet our expectations at all, became 46 modern rooms that perfectly matched the LINDEMANN HOTELS in a subtle gray and white style. The result was, according to its name, an oasis of calm in hectic Berlin, in the middle of Mitte, and yet a retreat that is perfect for sleeping as well as for a short trip to the capital. Located in a bicycle street and right in the middle of the action, centrally connected to the underground, S-Bahn and tram … What more could you want? Our team was at least extremely satisfied and so another chapter could be written in the history book of LINDEMANN HOTELS.

Conversion of LINDEMANN’S

Before we started the renovation of our CALMA Berlin Mitte hotel, we had another project on the agenda. The unused conference room on the 6th floor of LINDEMANN’S was converted into additional rooms. With the completion of the new rooms, our hotel grew to a total of 72 rooms;

Takeover of fjord hotel berlin

In 2013, it was time for our junior to take over the fjord hotel berlin completely from the senior. By this time, three hotels were already part of our LINDEMANN HOTELS.

2015

The 4th hotel

It wasn’t long before our fourth object caught the attention of our team. An old city villa, a little away from the immediate center, was the object of desire. A hotel had already been operating there since 1992, so this was once again the best opportunity to create something new from something existing that would fit in perfectly with our hotel. This house has soul, charm and above all history! Our new hotel joined the ranks of our LINDEMANN HOTELS in May 2015, initially with 38 rooms under the existing name and in the old style.

2016

Anna 1908

After the renovation work was completed in summer 2016, our hotel in Steglitz not only had eight more rooms, but also its very own rustic-modern character and, above all, finally a new name! Now the house had finally become one of ours. From the name, from the colleagues working there and above all from the feeling… Our Anna 1908!

2017

Complete conversion of LINDEMANN’S

Now some calm could return and the focus could be directed back to the existing houses. Some time had passed and a new style was needed. LINDEMANN’S was completely overhauled in January 2017. The black slate bathrooms and the huge black slate bar in the lobby have been freed from the dark natural stone and the white has been replaced by midnight blue. With exposed concrete and industrial design, the hotel got an urban style that couldn’t have been better. The dark colors, the high-quality new furniture and the precisely placed decorative and lighting elements form an interplay with the team that meshes like gears! The new concept was just as well received by guests as it was by colleagues, and our Black Pearl became a venerable flagship of LINDEMANN HOTELS.

Makeover CALMA Berlin Mitte

But the CALMA Berlin Mitte was also given a makeover. The lobby and breakfast area got a new design and a fresh pink was added to the rooms in a gray and white scheme with cheeky decorative elements. The result is a product with its own charm that suits Berlin-Mitte and, above all, the spirit of the company, and was complemented by a terrace with furniture made from Euro pallets with comfortable cushions in the courtyard.

2018

Makeover fjord hotel berlin

After the fjord hotel berlin was also given a makeover in 2017 with blue accents, new pictures and elements, the corridors were renovated in 2018. The breakfast area has been completely redesigned and the lobby has been given a completely new room concept. More open, lighter, woody …

Makeover Anna 1908

And last but not least, in 2018 we also wanted something to happen at the Anna 1908. After two years of experience with the hotel, we were able to draw on these values and optimized furnishing elements in the rooms, added minibars, improved the lighting concept and made our hotel even more homely.

2019

New Office

A milestone reached: With four hotels and over 50 employees, LINDEMANN HOTELS has proven to be a real success since its foundation in 1993. But standing still is not an option – the future still has a lot in store. In order to continue to realize innovative projects, it is important to invest in the future today. The office team therefore had to relocate in December 2019. The previous office in the inner courtyard of CALMA Berlin Mitte was too small for the growing requirements. The administration, consisting of the Team & Culture (HR), Online Marketing & Sales and Central Reservations departments, found a home in the new office in Berlin-Schöneberg with inviting industrial charm and plenty of space for new ideas, creativity and future team members.

2020

New fjord hotel berlin

It was time for the complete renovation of the fjord hotel berlin. The previous embellishments of 2017 and 2018 were just the beginning back then. The renovation of the lobby and breakfast room began in January 2020. A completely new color concept and a new room layout make the house a completely different one. The bar gave way to the buffet and thus more space was created for breakfast guests. In beautiful agave green and warm wood tones, a completely new design has moved into the fjord hotel berlin. By June 2020, the complete renovation of all rooms was completed and the modernization of the oldest hotel in the LINDEMANN HOTELS family was completed.

2023

New chapter with AURELIUS

2023 marked a milestone in the history of LINDEMANN HOTELS when we became part of AURELIUS Wachstumskapital in October. This significant development marked the start of our nationwide expansion and the search for new, unique properties to add to our portfolio. Joining the AURELIUS family opens up new horizons and opportunities to establish LINDEMANN HOTELS beyond the borders of Berlin. We look forward to an exciting future.

2024
