What is the Berlin Half Marathon?

The Generali Berlin Half Marathon is Germany’s largest 21.1 km run – flat, fast and with a great atmosphere. In addition to the main race for runners, there is inline skating, wheelchair and handbike on the same city course. In 2025, over 40,000 active participants were registered – Berlin is playing in the world league here. The Berlin Half Marathon is part of the SuperHalfs series (Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff, Valencia). Anyone who runs all six will receive an extra medal – Berlin provides the big pictures between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate.

When, where, start times?

The anniversary edition will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Start on Straße des 17. Juni between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate; finish at the Gate – goosebumps guaranteed. Start times: 09:15 skaters, 09:55 wheelchair/handbike, from 10:05 runners in waves.

Route & atmosphere

The route is arrow-straight and flat – ideal for personal bests. Sightseeing included: Victory Column, Unter den Linden, Charlottenburg & Co. Along the route, bands, cheering points and thousands of fans cheer on the runners – this mixture makes the Berlin Half Marathon so fast and so special.

Registration & starting places

For 2026, starting places were allocated by lottery; result emails followed in June 2025. Inline skaters can register until March 16, 2026 (as long as there are places available). For wheelchair and handbike, registration is possible until March 5, 2026. Everything is done via the personal user account.

Expo & side events

The Half Marathon Expo is the Sports Community Convention for the race – a meeting place for runners, brands, medicine & training with 60+ exhibitors in spring, up to 100,000 visitors across both Berlin running fairs. Here you can get news on running shoes, textiles, nutrition, sports medicine, travel & community, often with test tracks, talks and promotions. Open on race weekend (27/28/03/2026). Traditionally, it takes place on the Tempelhofer Feld (runway).

New in 2026 is the Berlin Mile on Saturday, March 28 – a “Race for everyone” over 1.609 km on the last section of the original route. There is, among other things, a Family Mile (several generations running together) and a Fun Mile; timing is optional (cheaper no-timing tariff). Finish through the Brandenburg Gate included – so real finish feeling in short. Click here to register.

Arrival, procedure, small hacks

Potsdamer Platz/Brandenburger Tor are easily accessible by S-/U-Bahn – arrive in time, plan drop-off and start block call.
